RESIDENCE PERMIT EXTENSION DURING COVID-19 PERIOD

According to the Shanghai Exit-Entry Bureau, the rules governing the renewal and extension of residence permit or visas for international students and foreign residents in Shanghai during COVID-19 epidemic have been implemented. The implemented rules are as follows;

1. International students and foreigners residing in Shanghai during this epidemic period whose residence permit expired from Monday, 20th January to Thursday, 27th February 2020 will have their residence permit automatically extended to Monday, 27th April 2020.
2. Residence permit that expired after Thursday, 27th February 2020, will automatically be extended for two months. Example: If the validity date on a residence permit is Monday, 2nd March 2020, then its validity date will automatically be extended to Saturday, 2nd May 2020.
3. International students are not required to renew their residence permit if the validity date is within the above-mentioned dates. Nonetheless, concerned students are requested to renew their residence permit after the extension period expires.
4. The above regulations on residence permit extension take effects from now until the central government of P.R. China declares the end of the epidemic or till the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of China’s Ministry of Public Security issues further notice.

The above regulation is applicable for only international students currently staying in China. Students outside China should wait for subsequent notice.
