Dear Int’l Students,
As the university is currently on recess, the International Education College (IEC) would like to remind you to pay prompt attention to the university’s safety rules, and all municipal and national laws of the People’s Republic of China. Below are some useful information provided by the International Students Management Office for your kind attention;

• Kindly be reminded that the possession of unauthorized electronic gadgets as well as tempering with safety equipment(s) in the international students’ dormitory is a violation of university rules and regulations.
• All religious gatherings within Chinese territory are protected by law and are only allowed in designated religious sites. Therefore, students are hereby informed to pay prompt attention to such invitations and report to the IEC if necessary.
• We humbly advise you to avoid going to seas, lakes and rivers during stormy weather and kindly go out with friend(s) during night walks.
• Always remember that the possession of Opium, Heroin, Methamphetamine (ice), Morphine, Marijuana, Cocaine and all other narcotics and psychotropic drugs is a serious offence in China and comes with a very severe punishment.
• Due to the ongoing holiday, most scenic spots will be crowded so kindly pay attention to your personal belongings and kindly observe all safety measures during this pandemic season.
• As a quick safety measure, always ensure your mobile phone is sufficiently charged and reachable. In case of any emergency, please call the SMU security department hotline on 021- 38283110, the police on 110, Fire service on 119, Traffic accident on 122 and Ambulance on 120 or 999.
• Stay connected with your friends and families and be a law-abiding citizen.
