Registration and return to school procedures for international students in China:
i. Students who are in China but are in areas classified as high and middle risk areas of COVID-19 cannot return to school for the registration process. Students in such areas can only apply to return to school when their current location has been converted to a low risk area. Students in those areas will only be allowed to return to campus after they have passed the nucleic acid test. The test certificate should be provided upon arrival on campus.
ii. Students within the medium and high risk areas of the pandemic should self-quarantine themselves for 14 days before registration and also arrange for nucleic acid test within a week before the registration period. If there is no abnormality is detected in their body according to the nucleic test, the student can return to school with the test report. If the interval between the release date of high risk areas and the return date is less than 21 days, the student in this area should arrive in Shanghai 7 days before the return date, and stay in the designated hotel for health observation and nucleic acid testing.
iii. Student who lives with a family member and has tested positive for COVID-19 or a student with a history record of the pandemic will have to recover a month and perform a nucleic acid test a week before returning to school. A negative test certificate is the only guarantee that the student can return to school.
iv. Students with history of living in high risk areas must self-quarantine themselves 14 days before returning to school and must have a continuous body temperature below 37.3 degrees and they must complete the university’s health check-in policy. Students in such situations must take the nucleic test a week before returning to school.
v. Students in low risk areas should not leave their current place of residence 14 days before returning to school. They need to check their body temperature within the 14 days period at their current residence before returning to school.
vi. All students are not allowed to return to school before the designated registration date. Students who arrive earlier than the stipulated date will be punished according to the university’s regulations on epidemic prevention and control. Students who need to return to school earlier due to a specific reason, will have to submit a written application to the International Education College and can only return to school when the application is approved.
vii. Vehicles or relatives transporting students back to campus will not be allowed to enter the university’s premises. Students who drive themselves to campus should apply separately to enter the premises.
viii. Students who are unable to return to school within the stipulated date due to special circumstances such as physical health should apply to the secretary of their college.
ix. The classification of areas as medium and high risk for the epidemic shall be implemented according to the medium and high-risk areas uniformly issued by the state.
